Support upcycling and enjoy the ambiance of my upcycled lamps.

My work is all about protecting our environment by using material that is typically discarded due to changes in technology and difficulty with recycling.

The series of work I completed around plastic farm twine was designed to draw community attention to the need to recycle this material or purchase biodegradable replacement material. Students, farmers, and community members were involved. The work resulted in local farm stores and landfill managers agreeing to collect material for shipment to a specialized recycling center.

Support upcycling a new direction

A new direction of my upcycle work will involve making portraits from discarded and surplus art gallery postcards. Using readily available discarded material is a way to conserve resources, draw attention to environmental issues and re-create something new that would otherwise end up in a landfill or be burnt and released into the air.
